SEAS Monmouth holds two types of meetings each month, the Executive Board meeting and the General meeting. During the Executive Board meeting, which is open to all SEAS members, all of the usual logistical, budgetary and policy issues that arise in running an organization the size of SEAS Monmouth are discussed and resolved. If you're interested in the workings of the organization and perhaps serving on the Board as a trustee, these meetings are for you. Executive Board meetings, which are held in the Tinton Falls, NJ Municipal Center starting at 7:00PM on the second Monday of each month, are led by the SEAS Monmouth Commodore. These meetings, like the General meetings below, can be found on the Meetings and Social Calendar.
While the Executive Board meetings are all business, the monthly General meetings, which start at 8:00PM on the last Tuesday of the month at the Keyport Yacht Club, 115 First Street, Keyport, NJ 07735, are all about fun and socializing. The meetings start with 10-15 minutes of announcements of upcoming events and a 5-minute "safety minute", and then the featured speaker presents an informative talk on a sailing or sailing-related topic, usually lasting an hour or less (click here for a list of past and future speakers). Many members have dinner before the meeting at nearby restaurents, and the Keyport Yacht Club serves drinks, which makes for a relaxing, social Tuesday evening. For new members and guests the General meetings are a great opportunity to learn more about the club's sailing and educational opportunities, meet its members, and build your network.
